ULTIMATE AUSTRALIA BUCKET LIST :: WILD KANGAROOS ON BEACH
In June of 2025, we spent three amazing weeks in Eastern Australia (see full itinerary here) exploring from Brisbane down to the bottom of mainland Australia along the Great Ocean Drive. When planning this trip I knew we would visit a few zoos, but also wanted to experience the native animals in their natural habitat.
This is when I came across Pebbly Beach Escapes—beachfront cabins overlooking natural bush with wild eastern grey kangaroos roaming freely. And, what a dream come true it was! Not only did we spend a few hours watching the kangaroos the afternoon we arrived, but we had the most spectacular visit from a kookaburra the following morning. We only stayed one night, breaking the long drive from Sydney to Melbourne, but definitely could’ve used an additional day to explore further along the beach.
