A SCENIC JOURNEY THROUGH A NORWEGIAN FJORD
Sailing through the dramatic fjords of Norway was one of my bucket list experiences for years and was SO excited to include this on our 3-week Scandinavian adventures back in June 2022.
We started our Rodne fjordcruise out from the city center gives us a great view of Bryggen in Bergen, which is on UNESCO’s world heritage list.
From there, we sailed through magnificent scenery in the Osterfjord towards Modalen—Norway’s second smallest municipality. The crew took us safely through powerful currents of the shallow and narrow Mostraumen straits.
The further into the fjord we ventured, the steeper and more powerful the mountain landscape became.
We pass several cascading waterfalls. The captain steers the boat so close to a waterfall that you risk feeling it’s refreshing spray on your face!
A favorite part of the journey was seeing an old village school that was only accessible by boat. Can you imagine having to row yourself to school every day in Norwegian weather!
